Language evolves. I know that and accept that. But I find myself as I read sometimes running into what are for me odd usages.
I read this:
"Few had ever stepped foot on the island."
Stepped foot. My mind tried really hard to read set foot. I have never heard stepped foot used. Is that a language evolution or is that somebody's screw up? What say you, oh great experts?
