From the #Nakba onward, the goal of the Zionist project was an ethnically pure "Jewish State" from the Jordan river to the Sea, (or to the Nile river if you go by maps that are still on print in Israel). They can not tolerate a Palestinian State, no mater how small or powerless, because the mere existence of such State would compromise their propaganda that #Palestine was "an empty land".
