I am the first to admit it is a small country town on the edge of a desert, that thinks it is more influential than it is. I have always said that, since returning from Sydney in 2002.
We miss out culturally quite a lot. But there is something to be said for still being able to park outside our favourite restaurants, and not taking more than 30 mins* to drive anywhere, including out of the city and into the hills/wine region.
*Outer suburban residents excepted.
