Cis people in Canadian provinces that currently don't have rabid transphobes holding a majority in their legislatures: *now's* a good time to try to choke out those sorts of political views. Not, like, five or six weeks before your next election.
As connected as our far right and the US far right are, *you* don't have to take cues from "moderates" down there. You *must* be better than that.
And in provinces that are already gunning for legislative repression — shut that down. *Please*.
The goal shouldn't just be "keeping (BC/MB/ON/&c.) safe-ish for trans people, technically" — the whole world needs to be entirely free of transphobia — but that effort needs to start with not conceding to fascists *now*. Not when the writ drops for the next election.
(Also, if you've never needed to care about transphobia, now's a good time for you to look into how things have gotten so dire elsewhere in the world, and how that's currently being imported to here.)
