Here's a map of one of my weeds of the month, African boxthorn. The map shows every patch of boxthorn I saw along my 40 km long ride to work yesterday.

Boxthorn has been steadily spreading out from the Motukarara area, incorporating itself into rural macrocarpa hedges. It's still absent from most of the Port Hills of Ōtautahi-Christchurch.

It's a spiny small tree with bird-dispersed fruit, and can dominate open wildlands.
