Quick overview of why you should avoid plastic clothes:
First, understand that you consume more tap water through your skin than you do through drinking it. Your skin consumes what touches it.
Polyester clothes are literally made from recycled plastic water bottles.
Therefore, polyester clothes are made of polyethylene terephthalate (PET).
PET doesn’t biodegrade, it just breaks down into ever smaller particles (micro- and nano-plastics).
When the plastics are breaking down, the main chemical that leaches is acetaldehyde. A carcinogen.
This does not include the many chemicals used to make the polyester workable into softer and stretchier fabrics which include BPA and phthalates.
These plastics breakdown even faster when exposed to UV Light, acidity and salts.
Now your morning jog in your “luxury” athletic clothes becomes a little less healthy.
Although, this is true of most clothes not just athletic brands.
An overwhelming percentage (not sure the exact amount but definitely over 75%) of clothes are made entirely or blended with a synthetic fiber.
Wear beautiful, real clothes.
