The UK central gov't had a de facto ban on new onshore windfarms and messed up an offshore auction that led to no bids.
Meanwhile, The Scottish gov't encouraged wind generation. Now a multi billion transmission line is gonna be built to transport energy generated by wind from Scotland to England.
