The Marilynne Robinson piece in this week’s NYRB is far from comprehensive but it gets to a lot of things I don’t see much in roughly left-through-liberal discussions of the present situation. (I come from a working class blended family with deployments in every generation and it was one of the things that seemed just totally unintelligible to my peers in college and beyond.)
