My mentor always had a sign on the wall behind her desk that said "My strategic plan is to get shit done."
I love that.
It's possible to go too far in either direction - but I think of that sign often these days.
To me it's a reminder that high and mighty principles are worthless if you aren't willing to get the kind of messy it takes to get anything of value done.
