I have two families living with me because their homes in Lahaina and in the NWT were recently destroyed by wildfires.

Today, in a city that is often rainy but never has thunderstorms, we had a severe lightning storm. Now there are forest fires just a few miles from my house.

I'm trying very hard to be the calm, strong optimistic person that everyone (especially the kids) here needs, but I'm privately starting to feel overwhelmed by dread and panic.
