Don't get me wrong: it probably *should* be ported to something modern, in a project planned and implemented by grown adults with professional experience doing such things. It won't get easier to hire new trained COBOL programmers as time goes on. Since this was written, we've learned a lot about how to design and maintain large systems.
But these jackasses are doing it in a couple of months ain't it, hoss.
