Koo, a walled garden Twitter “alternative”, just laid off 30% of its staff. And due to a funding crunch, it may not survive.
This is a good reminder that if a walled garden dies, people will lose everything. All those posts, media, relationships could go up in smoke.
Yet, the Fediverse persists even if one particular server goes down. And we have options to migrate to another Fediverse server too.
Post, Hive, and Spoutible could all die—and you’d lose everything!
