The warp core ejection system is always one of the first things to fail. I think I've seen it work maybe four times, and two of them were the miniature warp cores used in Runnabouts and Delta Flyers.
Gravity plating, on the other hand, is clearly the single most reliable piece of technology in the universe. In all of Trek I can think of just two times its failed and never on a Federation ship (the Klingon ship in Undiscovered Country and the Romulan ship in TNG 2x11 "Contagion").
