When billionaire Jeff Bezos bought the Washington Post, it was portrayed as a billionaire doing a civic good, saving a struggling but vital institution. Same thing when billionaire Patrick Soon-Shiong bought the L.A. Times. A positive for the general welfare.
This week should be a lesson, or a reminder, that billionaires don't do things for the general welfare. Ever.
Please remember this the next time a billionaire supposedly does something "to help people."
