Horse-race sensationalist headlines are like "Nikki Haley surging, Ron DeSantis steady or worse in primary race" and then you read the story and it's got Trump at like 60% among GOP voters.
I'm 100% on board with Jay Rosen's "not the odds but the stakes" approach to journalism. Mostly because the stakes are what actually matter, but also because odds-focused coverage has every incentive to pretend that even an open-and-shut situation is a dramatic nail-biter.
