Suicides went up during the period of the lockdowns in the USA and the masking period. So did other non COVID deaths. It made people's lives demostratably worse. We can't live like this.
There is not going to be an "end" to COVID under any circumstances. It's considered to be endemic in the population now.
Also smallpox is still around; I keep hearing about cases every few years or so, especially in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
