You have to set up a mailgun account and connect that to Ghost, but that's pretty set it and forget it and has a decent free tier.
Once that's set up, you can publish and send/publish/send only via the Ghost API. Ghost handles all the sub, unsub and send as well.
The annoyance might be updating Ghost every month or so. Platform is moving pretty fast.
