per capita is a much more useful metric i think
i believe that GB is and has long been one of the biggest munitions producers, their jets and bombs and guns... germany is also a big one, i mean, and then switzerland, for decades USA officer standard issue pistol has been the Sig P226, and the police in USA have been buying italian Beretta 92s for the longest time that it's practically a code in movies that whoever is using the berettas is the good guys (and the bad guys always have desert eagles from israel, funny enough)
