I think it is poor education is too blame, education that neglects the idea that companies are /a group of people working together for the benefit of people./ When you neglect teaching people that, they don't know better and focus of the mathematics of cost vs profit, letting everything go to shit. I've seen examples of businesses that are run with an aim of benefiting the employees and improving their lives as well as being profitable. They face headwinds from the uneducated and unenlightened, but do work. They work well, but are few and far between. When we focus educationally on STEM and passing tests to improve scores not comprehension, then ignore teaching humanism, critical thinking, art, and civics, we get a generation of emotionally stunted people that see things in the terms of a /game/ you need to win at all costs. Life isn't a game. Never is. Never was. Never will be. What? They didn't teach that is school?
