I will never forget as long as I live physicians during the Covid pandemic (who swore to first do no harm) advocate for not treating the unvaccinated who presented to the ER for medical help. At first this shocked me. However, I now kunderstand that fiat even corrupts the medical system. Seems obvious now but it was a bitter pill for me personally. It reflected poorly on the profession for which I had dedicated my life. This is definitely part of my orange pill story.
I took the Hippocratic Oath. “In the oath, the physician pledges to prescribe only beneficial treatments, according to his abilities and judgment; to refrain from causing harm or hurt; and to live an exemplary personal and professional life.”
In Iraq, I treated “enemy combatants” because it was the right thing to do and because I took that oath. In a place where the regime sent me in a war I did not believe in and still don’t. I will never forget what happened to my profession during Covid and under a corrupt, fiat regime.
