Adding weight to balance work is just asking for a bigger injury if you fall.
The stabilizer muscle myth falls apart once you grasp the concept of muscle irradiation. You cannot push any muscle hard without also flexing nearby muscles hard. Go ahead and test your grip but keep your shoulder limp then compare to grip strength if you flex everything including face with your eyes bugging out of your head. This is why neck muscles grow from lifting without any targeted training. It is also why some lifters use mouth guards for max effort full body lifts.
All those tiny muscles get stronger from any max effort lift.
Balance and coordination work is useful but it should be body weight only. You aren't practicing strength there you are practicing mind body connection and precision control of your muscles.
