I just started running my node via my old macbook pro 2013. I uninstaller macOS and install Linux ( dabian12.5) and run the node on umbrel. I wanted to run my private LN node as well but I am not confident enough to run it as I don't know how to recover my channel. but we have to do it. public BTC node are 100% from governments. I don't wanna stack Sats from robosats as I am afraid that when I pay by banking transfer, the sellers are governments themselves and they will know.
