Well, just got a "no space left" error at ~1/7th of the size of the tape. Either there is something wrong with my procedure or the tape is fake. Fantastic. Now I have to try to figure it out.
If I haven't fixed it by the end of the day tomorrow, I am thinking I will just move on to BSD for now.
