Te Puia, home of the NZ Māori Arts & Crafts Institute, held a Waitangi Day event. We arrived 1h before close from Mt Tarawera. Sadly the hāngī (& other options) ran out of food; the train offering geyser rides was out of action. However we saw some carvings e.g. the Te Arawai waka (📷1); reconstructed Māori village buildings (📷2); Pōhutu geyser from afar (📷3) & a performance on Rotowhio Marae (📷4).
