I hate email, still until nostr isnt ready to spread out, email is the standard and the most flexible way to do internet communications. Web2 centralized platforms are better and more advanced than email, until they are not at some point. Or until your friends uses another web2 centralized platform and is not campatible to your communication setup. Or until the promised encryption and privacy is cracked by an hidden backdoor. Or until they ban you. Or until someone simswap on you.

Some of the sins of web2 centralized platforms are also common with email and federated protocols.
If gmail ban you, you have mostly the same problem you would have if telegram bans you.

Still, the openess of the protocol make you way more sovreign and offer more flexibility: you can selfhost your mail server, you can choose a provider to trust and change provider when your consideration of him changes, or when its services become worse: you will not loose your contacts, and if you use encryption trough pgp your wot will update smoothly.

So mail is still the best we have, until nostr.

After something like half century, the technology shape has changed enough to figure out a more sovreign and better way to do internet communications and WOT.

Nostr is a total advancement over federated protocols like email, and it moves decisely in the "sovreign direction". It can be good, or even better and smarter than web2 centralized platforms, and infinitely more sovreign than mails and web2.

So this time we as human have really a concrete shot to make a better wheel.

Its time to move on and make mail and pgp obsolete, not only twitter and web2 centralized platforms.
