The more I read into Matrix the more it seems like the OSI model of messaging.
All the boasting about nation state use and helping NATO build Element forks doesn't vibe with me either.
Perhaps leaving XMPP behind wasn't the best of ideas. I'm sure stuff like push notifications could be done more efficiently using ntfy. I haven't touched the stuff in years.
SimpleX also feels like a clutch. I get what they're trying to do but it feels like Freenet in the early 2000s.
