i am pretty sure there are commercial refrigerators in this format though, but it makes no sense to make freezers any other way at all, for this very reason
probably can't get a much cheaper insulated box than a chest freezer in general also, if you were to build something... but on the other hand, if you built it yourself, you could make the insulation way thicker, the whole thing could be a bit more shallow like on a benchtop only 2 feet deep, and yeah, one of the great things is you can put a double glazed lid on it so you can inspect them, and have sensors inside showing you readings of whatever, air pressure, humidity, etc
