I disagree so hard, I run KDE and Wayland (and I'm not the world's biggest fan of either) and for the most part it's easy to forget I'm not running Windows a lot of the time. I would not go back to 2007 for all the marbles.
I guess it boils down to luck and how much "ordinary" stuff you're doing versus unordinary stuff.
