Ingredients:
3-3.5c flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
2tsp salt
2tbsp honey
1c warm water (110° F)
1 egg
1 packet yeast (2 1/4 tsp)
1/4c plain yogurt (we used Greek)
Prep work:
If making pizza heat oven to 350°
1: combine water, yeast and honey. Let sit until yeast bubbles (yeast should be activated within about 5-10 minutes)
2: in a separate bowl while waiting for yeast to activate - sift flour, baking powder, and salt together
3: after yeast is activated combine beaten egg and yogurt into the liquid and combine wet ingredients before adding in dry ingredients. Once liquid ingredients are combined add sifted flour mixture together and incorporate by kneading for 3-4 minutes into a slightly sticky ball (you can also use a mixer with a dough paddle attachment if you prefer)
4: place dough ball into a slightly greased bowl and cover with a kitchen towel to let rise for about 30 minutes in a warm spot
5: place dough onto lightly floured surface and separate into smaller sections. The bigger the section the bigger your piece of naan will be (I probably didn’t need to say that but I like to roll small sections out as thin as possible to get the best naan bread effect possible)
6: roll out naan bread to desired thickness. The thinner the bread is rolled the better effect it has.
6.1: at this point heat cast iron pan or whatever sauté pan you have available
7: place flattened dough onto preheated pan and let cook until the top is bubbling. Flip after about 1-2 minutes or until dough is slightly browned on the bottom. Cook another minute or two until other side slightly browns.
8: either serve warm with whatever entree you like (or just enjoy alone with honey and butter melted together 🤤 or garlic butter) or use as a base for a pizza, top as desired (let your imagination run wild) bake until it looks like pizza and enjoy!
