There was ash falling in my yard yesterday afternoon and it made me furious, and that’s so fucking good!
The ash was from the uphill neighbor’s burn pile, from the cardboard they used to get it going. It hadn’t rained for two days, so it was a good evening to burn tree limbs and other yard waste, I guess.
I don’t burn things anymore, not after we had to evacuate in 2020. I remember when we first moved in up here, in late 2021, and the same neighbor’s burn pile triggered my ptsd so bad I couldn’t even look outside at the smoke without spiraling into a panic attack. Nothing wrong with the burn area or the homeowner, they’re very responsible - it was just fire, smoke, and the smell of smoke that I couldn’t handle.
But not all psychic wounds heal wrong, and it feels like this one is scarred over correctly. FUCK! It’s correct to be mad about FUCKING ASH falling from the sky! It’s healthy to go inside and complain about it and let it go! Good job, brain.
