I grew up always thinking my mom was mad at me. I would ask so often that my asking made her mad at me. This has repeated many times throughout my life with different people. I have been with my husband long enough now that when I see that look I don't ask but I don't hang around either.
It is my understanding that it is common the reading and displaying of emotions based on expressions and body language is a challenge. I assume that means a challenge between an allistic and a person with autism.
Therefore, I am having difficulty really answering your question based on experience. I make an interpretation and for the most part my actions or inactions are based on my interpretation and I believe them to be true. I wouldn't know if I was wrong and misinterpreting without asking. My experience has made me less likely to ask.
