Have you personally experienced racism?
I've been experiencing racism back in USSR, where, as you might know, the famous 5th Paragraph, Ethnicity, was present in internal passports (these were essential documents for all things from employment to housing). 5th paragraph was a big deal - the safest was to have Russian there. But it wasn't choice, you could only choose between 5th para of your parents. There cases where it was advantageous to have a different one, though - e.g. in a different from RFSR Soviet Republic it could have been better for career etc prospects to have a 5th paragraph of the Republic.
And then there a saying: "they hit on the mug, not on the passport" - which was how a differently, from the majority of the place, looking person would be often received. So one saw a lot of everyday racism too, one which was not dependent on the 5th paragraph's contents.
