Something that Europeans need to learn from the USA is how to build solidarity around migration. Currently even the left of European mainstream politics usually sees migration as a problem to be addressed and reduced.
While I see in the USA is a left that usually accepts migration as a fact of life, one that can't be legislated away.
When it comes to migration, the mainstream of EU politics is just 'building the wall.'
