Part of home maintenance is problem solving. With YouTube it's tremendously easier to find info.
We had a screw rust-welded into the tub fixture that held on the drain stop. COULD NOT get it to turn. Had to tear it off to get the auger in to clear the drain.
After the hair clogs were cleared, we drilled through the bad screw and re-tapped it so a 1/4-20 screw could be used. It worked great! Unbelievable!!!!
