Could it be that Democrats like having, maintaining and even developing additional fascist infrastructure so that it can be leveraged in situations like, say, a bunch of 20-year-old college kids contradicting the party line about Genocide being an acceptable policy? And that they'll continue leveraging it and maintaining it and developing it, irrespective of who might get their hands on it down the line.
