squeezing [public service] to "fund tax cuts" just means defunding [public service] right? it's not a quid pro quo thing so much as it's just "we are removing money from this service". the "tax cut" is just the leftover unspent money. you have more money left over because it's been deliberately not spent on the thing it's usually spent on. i think my point is that it's deliberately phrased backwards. "i am funding more money in my wallet by not buying any food or essentials this week" etc
