No doubt people will try and I don’t pretend to predict the future. Hopefully it doesn’t become that, I agree with you there. Where I think things are different with Nostr + Bitcoin is that the design of the whole mechanism creates a different environment of incentives/accountability that wasn’t there before. Money on the internet has been a conglomerate of closed banking systems that can control and manipulate behavior at every level. It is as easy as seizing bank funds to cancel someone who relies on the internet to sell their goods and services. The fear of being canceled causes everyone to set up artificial guard rails that inhibit the free flow of information and creativity. This is different. It would take great effort for someone to stop someone from creating a Nostr public key and linking a bitcoin lightning wallet to it. And unlike the traditional web, no one needs to pander to advertisers and corporate/political interests here unless they really choose to. If you offer something of value, those who find it valuable can easily reward you for it. If you provide things of no value, then you will not be rewarded. I have hope that this system/ecosystem can heal the ills of the legacy web.
Enjoying this discussion. Followed you 💜🤙
