One of the beauties of our Constitution we the States make up the Republic. The States can end the Republic.
An Article V convention can be called by the STATES without any involvement of the Federal government.
We need to have a specific stated purpose of the Convention - so it can't be hijacked like it was in 1787.
We. the States can abolish the Legislature, the Supreme Court or the entire government. We can change what we stated in the purpose for the convention.
