I am absolutely blown away. I take back everything bad I may have said or thought about Honda. My car is fixed for far, far less than I expected.
The dealer agreed that Honda should bear some of the cost since the seals should not have failed. He made a case to Honda America and won. The initial estimate for the replacement of the moon roof was a little over $1200. A friend on Mastodon who needed the same repair paid around $800.
So I was looking at $1200 plus the cost of the state inspection and an oil change. But Honda America agreed to pay all but $210 of the moon roof cost, leaving me to pay only a little over $300 total, including the inspection & oil change. Whew!
