Some context for my occasional WebDev rambling:
For little hobby apps, I'd like to write code that doesn't require constant maintenance to keep from bit-rotting away.
Since the web tech stack seems to support endless backward compatibility and modern browsers are very capable and modern machines are sufficiently powerful to offset all the overhead, it seems like this would be a useful target.
*But* I don't want to depend on tons of constant-evolving and breaking-my-code middleware goop.
