My kid (just turned 18) sums this up well.
"If I go to the hardware store and spend $20 to buy a hammer, I don't expect to have to keep giving the hardware store $1 every time I want to hit something, or else the store can take it back. That would be ridiculous and no-one would buy that, but somehow everyone is okay with it when it's digital media? Adults have really messed up this world..."
