Have you tried the Logitech MX Master series yet?
They are extremely rugged productivity mice with a very sturdy full metal mouse wheel. Two, in fact.
I've tried many different mouse brands in my time, but so far, Logitechs have always proven to be the most reliable and long lived ones. At least the more expensive ones.
