In the fullness of time, Bitcoin’s success will be the replacement of fiat currency. The scale of human endeavors will easily consume a few megabytes of space per 10 minute increment.
Of course we’re not there today. Change takes time. But that’s the end state. There’s no future in which Bitcoin is simultaneously the world’s premier monetary system AND we maintain sparse blocks.
Those visions are mutually incompatible.
