Huh, so the version of Uzagaku performed at Shuri castle in Okinawa today, with modern Chinese instruments and all, is actually partially derived from Minshingaku, a form of Ming and Qing dynasty music played in Nagasaki, Japan.
Essentially they're taking Uzagaku but interpreting it in the style of Minshingaku, but with modern Chinese instruments lol. I always assumed they were just playing straight up Chinese music for tourists
