I was talking to a friend about an #IRC chat and they said, with honest astonishment, "Wait, on... IRC? Is that still a thing?!"
That was around 2006. Almost 20 years on and I still use IRC almost daily.
Whenever I think how much I like IRC, my mind goes back to my friend. I should tell them one day.
(Oh, I go by fnat on libera.chat by the way.)
