Bike nerds are hilarious. Someone asks how they can clean their bike’s drive train and they have never done their own bike maintenance before. I suggest a basic routine of degreasing with WD40, wiping clean with a rag, and re-applying oil, which is entirely reasonable and pragmatic for most people’s cases.
This upsets everyone because it’s way too simple but the suggestion from someone else to buy an ultrasonic parts cleaner and take apart the entire drive train every time is somehow accepted.
