In the mid 1960s my parents became publicans and my father was always conscious that Weights and Measures could turn up at any time. With spirits there was the reassurance that each optic was wire sealed (though nothing to stop the unscrupulous from watering down the bottles). With draught the glasses had scored lines and certified crests but the biggest issue was customers not understanding that a pint or half pint measure was up to the line, not brimming over.
