Another funny tip: tell your doc that you are planning to travel somewhere interesting in a few months. Pick a random country that has a lot of diseases but is still somewhat common for tourism or work. Ask what vaccines and meds they recommend.
You'll probably get Hep A, Typhoid, and MMR as recommended shots. And a prescription for ciprofloxacin, amxocacilin, and some other antibiotics that you can fill and keep on hand for a rainy day. Most are officially good for 2-3 years on the shelf (and likely good for many years after that, but 'I am not a pharmacist').
