I think I've figured out why I dislike using the train stop near my house, and prefer to take the bus when it's an option.
For most of the walk, I'm facing the tracks directly, and the length of the walk combined with the headway means that I'm like 75% likely to see a train pull into the station while I'm still too far to make it. This triggers an automatic "oh shit I missed the train" reaction and makes the whole thing feel stressful.
