Burke didn't just be greedy. He perpetuated a system that consistently rewards focusing on personal gain over the well being of your constituents. These aldermen denying the poison they spread by pointing to the good they do in their own wards are people who are doing "I did a good enough job! So I'm just looking out for myself! It's your fault for reelecting me anyway."
